Dear BA Criminal Justice & Criminology students,

Welcome to the University of Kent!  We are delighted to meet you! We’re very much looking forward to getting to know you over the coming weeks, beginning with Welcome Week from Monday 20th September.

Welcome Week

Welcome Week takes place from Monday 20th September. You will shortly get your timetable for Welcome Week, but you should anticipate an online meeting (on Teams) on Monday, with on campus activities from the lunchtime onwards.  In addition to School activities, there are plenty of on-campus and online social activities for you to take part in.

Teaching

Teaching begins on Monday 27th September.  You will soon be able to see your timetable via Kent Vision, but you will be taking a core programme of the following compulsory modules this term:

You can find your reading lists HERE. If you sign in with your Kent ID, you should see your modules listed or you can look them up by name. The reading list will indicate what books you should buy as well as linking you to the library catalogue.  Your module convenors – some of whom you will meet in Welcome Week and others you will meet in Week 1 – will be able to answer any questions you have about your modules. If you would like to meet all Criminology lecturers at Kent, you will find their welcome videos HERE.

Academic advisers

You will meet your academic adviser in Welcome Week.  Your academic adviser is a lecturer on the programme who will work with you throughout your time at Kent.  They will be able to give you guidance on getting the most out of your studies, support you with module choices in Stages 2 and 3, and can signpost you to pastoral and study support.
If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact your Director of Studies, Dr Thomas Akoensi, via email: t.akoensi@kent.ac.uk.

With very best wishes,

Dr. Thomas Akoensi on behalf of the Kent Criminology Group, Medway Campus
