Two-weekend short CPD course Dentistry in a Contemporary Context

What is the role of dental professionals in the delivery of dental health services within the context of current socio-political environment, policies and the Government’s Health Care strategy?

Two-weekend short CPD course in Medway 

Friday 7th – Sunday 9th February & Friday 6th March 2020

This short CPD course is suitable for the whole dental team – Dental Care Professionals (Dental Hygienists, Dental Therapists, Dental Nurses, Dental Technicians, Clinical Dental Technicians, Orthodontic Therapist) and Dentists.

During the course, participants are encouraged to address contemporary dental practice within the wider context of social policy and cultural influence. 

Friday 7th February, 2020  09.30-15.00

Dr Sam Shah will address the inequalities effecting health and well-being; social, economic, cultural, environmental and behavioural factors; the social factors effect health at different life stages.

Saturday 8th February, 2020 09.00-12.30

Dr Sam Shah will discuss the incorporation of health into historical  and contemporary political and sociological agendas and the changing landscape and the dental workplace. 

Sunday 9th February 2020 09.00-12.30   

Professor Ken Eaton will discuss the following:
– Oral health systems in Europe and beyond;  Healthcare Structures and dental health agenda, policy and leadership;
– Oral health systems in Europe and beyond: The dental workforce; Brexit and the Dental Workforce.

 Friday 6th March, 2020 09.00-15.00

John Darby will deliver an update on the national Advancing Dental Care Project.
Mike Wheeler will discuss the following: 

– The incorporation of health into historical and contemporary political and sociological agendas; The dental workforce today;
– The dental workforce within healthcare structures, agenda, policy, strategy and leadership;
– The potential of dental care professionals roles related to the future of dental services and how their training may be funded.

Fee:
The fees for this short CPD course are:
DCPs – £50 per day.
Dentists – £75 per day.

If attending more than 1 day, 10% discount applies.
