Applying for university accommodation can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Living on campus is one of the best ways to settle into university life and you’ll be close to your lectures, the study spaces and social areas, all while meeting other students.
Why Choose University Accommodation?
Living on campus comes with a range of benefits:
- Accommodation to suit your needs (self-catered, catered, en-suite, shared facilities, LGBTQ+ accommodation, moderate living)
- ResLife Ambassadors will be available on campus to support you in settling in, feeling at home, and becoming part of the community.
- Free sports membership included
- No deposit required and all bills included (Wi-Fi and utilities)
- Personal possessions insurance included
- 24/7 security and on-site maintenance team.
It’s a simple, stress-free way to start university life!
Important information:
- Applications open in mid-January for the upcoming academic year.
- First year, full time students who apply before 30 June 2026 are guaranteed on-campus accommodation (Pier Quays for Medway students).

Getting Started:
KMMS and MPharm: KMMS (Kent and Medway Medical School) and MPharm students will need to apply through their dedicated links:
Step-by-Step Application Guide
Step 1: Register
Create an account on the MyAccommodation portal using:
- Your surname
- Date of birth
- Kent Applicant ID
Use a personal email address so you don’t miss important updates. Be sure to keep your login details safe for later.
Step 2: Choose your preferences
You’ll need to select four room options in order of preference (editable until 13 July).
Tips for choosing:
- Consider different areas of campus (everything is within a 10–15 minute walk).
- Research which accommodation and contract length would suit your needs and budget before deciding. (Self-catered/Catered/En-suite/Shared facilities/LGBTQ+/Moderate Living)
- Only select rooms you’d be happy to live in.

Step 3: Submit
Once you’ve submitted your application, you’re all set for now. You can update your application anytime in the MyAccommodation Portal before 13 July without affecting your place in the queue. Plus, there are no cancellation fees before you accept an offer so you’ve got flexibility if your plans change.
When can you expect your offer?
Firm choice: If Kent is your firm choice, you’ll usually receive your accommodation offer around A-Level results day, or earlier if your course offer is unconditional. If you already have an unconditional offer, you may receive your accommodation offer sooner.
Insurance choice: Even if Kent is your insurance choice, it’s still worth booking accommodation early. If you later make Kent your firm choice, we’ll send you an offer (as long as your course offer is conditional or unconditional).
Clearing: Accommodation is available for Clearing students too. Just make sure you tick “yes” for accommodation when you apply. You can find more details in our Clearing application advice.
How and when are offers sent?
We’ll email you when your accommodation offer is ready to view in the MyAccommodation portal. Offers start being sent from late March and are released in batches, so don’t worry if you don’t hear straight away. Keep an eye on your inbox (and spam folder) and if you haven’t heard after a few weeks, you can contact the Accommodation team for an update.
Accepting your offer
Once you receive your accommodation offer, you’ll need to log in to the MyAccommodation portal and accept or decline it within 48 hours. If you’re not happy with your room, don’t panic, don’t decline the offer straight away as you won’t automatically receive another one. Instead, contact the Accommodation team for advice. You can request a room move before or after you arrive, subject to availability.

Missed the Deadline?
You can still apply for accommodation after 30 June, but it’s no longer guaranteed and you may need to wait a bit longer for an offer. The university will still try to accommodate as many students as possible.
