A Day in the Life of a ResLife Ambassador: Bri and May

Hey everyone!

We’re Bri and May, two of your ResLife Ambassadors, and we’re excited to take you with us through a day in our lives! Follow along as we share what it’s like balancing academic duties, hosting events, and general work life.

Starting the Day

Our mornings begin with checking our calendars, to see what we have in store, and getting ready for the day. Like most students, we attend our lectures, catch up on assignments, and spend time with friends in between classes. If we don’t have other commitments, we use our afternoons to plan and host ResLife events. These are often creative sessions, like art workshops or cooking nights – we’re always stewing up new ideas!

We schedule most of our events in the evening so we can focus on our lectures during the day without interruptions. Plus, evenings work best for students since more people are available. This makes it easier to balance academic life with our ResLife responsibilities while ensuring events are accessible to everyone.

Getting organised

Before each event, we gather supplies and setup in our designated space, which is usually DG-01 in Templeman Library or in Eliot, since both are central and easy for students to reach.

One of our favourite events to host are movie nights, often in Eliot or Keynes. We greet students, get everyone signed in, and give them time to grab snacks and get cosy. Lately, we’ve been showing classic 2000s films like Legally Blonde and sometimes we even add a theme, like a sleepover night!

After the event, we clean up, chat with students, and take note of any movie requests or event ideas for next time. Once everything is back in place, we head home.

Thanks for spending the day with us! We hope this gives you a glimpse into what we do and that you’ll come to our future events.

See you soon!
