The SSPSSR Write Right Programme
- The WriteRight! Programme is an SSPSSR module comprising of skills workshops to help improve students’ writing and academic ability.
- WriteRight! is a non-credit academic skills programme designed to help you throughout your degree.
- The programme includes weekly online workshops (run by Professor Tim Strangleman and Dr Triona Fitton) in addition to the materials provided on the Moodle page.
- It runs during termtime on Wednesdays at 1pm, via Teams.

Academic peer mentoring
- The University offers academic peer mentoring.
- Academic Peer Mentoring (APM) partners experienced students with newer students to support their learning in specific modules.
- APM is a success strategy which helps students to make the most of their studies.
The Student Learning Advisory Service (SLAS)
- Students can obtain academic skills development from the Student Learning Advisory Service. They provide appointments and workshops (online and face-to-face) to help with:
- referencing
- approaching and structuring assignments
- time management
- and much more.
English Language and Academic Skills Modules
- Students can improve their English academic reading and writing by participating either in in-sessional elective modules or online English Language and Academic Skills modules.
Additional Support

- Students can use Microsoft Office for free and they can find more information on how to download the software here.
How do I get employment advice?

- Students can contact the Careers and Employability service for careers advice and information on job hunting and interviews.
- There is an automatic CV checking service.
