The talk Sakis gave was titled ‘Yes I can! Using the Paralympic Games to challenge stereotypes about disability.’ The Paralympic Games represents a unique opportunity to raise awareness and challenge stereotypes as it is one of the biggest sporting events in the world. In his talk, Sakis explored how the representation of disabled athletes is still problematic and presented his findings from his research on the media portrayal of the Paralympic Games. He also discussed his strategy to develop media communication that will increase the quality and quantity of representation of people with disability in the media.
