Computing students currently on their placement submitted a diverse range of images to the first Year in Industry photo competition, which reflects the range of experiences students have during their placement year.
The judges found it difficult to narrow it down to just two winners, so decided on runners-up in each category.
The winners are
Best individual photo:
Winner – Matt Weeks, on placement at Cisco
Runner up – Lucas Slater-Williams, on placement at Wanstor
Best portfolio:
Winner – Charlotte Hutchinson, on placement at IBM
Runner up – Gajalakshan Mohankumar, on placement at RSCPP
The pictures display the range of experiences students have during their placement year from the daily commute to international travel, serious work to putting up (and becoming) the office Christmas decorations.
Sian Robson, Placement Officer said; ‘We were pleased with the range of pictures submitted and that they came from students based at both Canterbury and Medway campuses and from undergraduate and Master’s students. There really is no such thing as a typical Year in Industry placement for our students. Computing skills are in demand in every sector and we’re pleased that the competition entries reflect that.’
