Confirmed speakers:

Professor Gareth Howells (Security) – Gareth has been involved in research relating to security, biometrics and pattern classification techniques for over twenty five years. Recent work has been directed towards the development of secure device authentication systems with a focus on Internet of Things (IoT).

Dr Jason Nurse (Security) – Jason’s research concentrates on investigating interdisciplinary approaches to enhance and maintain cyber security for organisations, individuals and governments. This often focuses on human individuals and users and how they interact with technologies.

Dr James Bentham (Health) – James’ research revolves around the development of Bayesian hierarchical models and their application to data on risk factors for non-communicable diseases. He is also interested in the application of multivariate statistical methods to genetic data, and the development text mining methods.

Dr Eduard Campillo Funolet (Health) – Eduard’s research aims to combine the power of mathematical modelling with rigorous statistics and data analysis. His research uses techniques from molecular biology to inform models in ecology, as well as deriving rigorous models for problems in genomics and fitting them to experimental data.

Dr Eleni Matechou (Environment) – Eleni’s research focuses on statistical ecology and she has developed models for studying populations of birds, mammals, amphibians and invertebrates. She has developed new modelling approaches for the study of migration patterns, populations control and their effect on the environment.

Professor Yong Yan (Environment) – Yong Yan’s main areas of expertise are in Sensors, Instrumentation, Measurement, Condition Monitoring, Digital Signal Processing, Digital Image Processing and Applications of Artificial Intelligence. He has worked on the application of his knowledge on flow measurement and instrumentation, condition monitoring of industrial systems and processes, quality assessment of recycled materials
