Science Museum Technicians Live Programme

Technicians: The David Sainsbury Gallery

In October 2022, the Science Museum opened Technicians: The David Sainsbury Gallery, its first gallery dedicated to young people aged 11-16 and to the world of technicians’ careers open to them. The key message of this initiative is “Technicians are essential, they make a difference in your life, and you could become one too”. School groups can meet technicians and take part in hands-on activities designed by technicians or put their questions to technicians in separate Q&A sessions.

Two of Kent’s Technicians have signed up to be a part of the Science Museum’s Technicians Gallery Live Programme. Jason Morris and Joanna Scamp received specialist training at the Science Museum this year where they created an activity based on their skills and career journey. They are now delivering their 40 minute workshops to school groups and young people at the museum. It has been a wonderful opportunity for our Technicians to get involved, collaborate with the Science Museum and offer the chance for young people to gain insight into the world and careers of Technicians.
