As part of Kent’s Technician Commitment activities and action plan, we have put into place a fair and inclusive system for our IT & technical services community to apply for funding. This funding is for individuals to attend in-person external training and conferences to enrich and grow knowledge exchange that is relevant to their role, teams and career development.
The process also takes into consideration and addresses ‘barriers’ that some individuals may face. In this case, a barrier is considered to be something that that would prevent an individual from applying and attending an in-person event external to the university. We have addressed this by offering reasonable additional financial support, where possible and funding permitting (e.g., supporting one person should not deplete the majority of funding allocated and therefore disadvantage others ability to apply), in order to put measures in place that would allow the attendance of the individual to that event (e.g., those with caring responsibilities).
We are excited to be able to provide this wonderful opportunity for our IT & Technical Services community to take advantage of.
