Annual Postgraduate Research Conference Brings Together Research, Development and Celebration

On 16 June, postgraduate researchers, academic colleagues and professional services staff came together for our Annual Postgraduate Research (PGR) Conference, a day dedicated to showcasing research excellence, sharing experiences and celebrating the achievements of our postgraduate research community.

“I left University of Kent ‘s Annual Postgraduate Research Conference 2026 feeling genuinely inspired. It was a brilliant and energising event.” – Maxim Potepkin

The conference opened with a series of engaging 10-minute research talks, featuring one speaker from each School. These presentations highlighted the breadth and diversity of research taking place across the University, providing attendees with valuable insights into projects spanning a wide range of disciplines.

Following the morning talks, delegates enjoyed a BBQ lunch in the sunshine, offering an opportunity to network, reconnect with colleagues and continue conversations sparked by the presentations.

“The Graduate and Researcher College provided such a valuable platform to share our work and connect with researchers across the university—it truly makes a difference.” – Zsofia Baruwa

The afternoon programme featured two rounds of parallel sessions designed to support researchers at different stages of their postgraduate journey. Covering topics ranging from researcher development and academic skills to career planning and professional growth, the sessions encouraged discussion, reflection and the sharing of experiences among participants.

The conference concluded with an Awards Ceremony, recognising the outstanding contributions and achievements of members of our postgraduate research community. The celebrations continued at a drinks reception, where attendees gathered to reflect on the day and celebrate the success of colleagues and peers.
