Disability history month resources from the Templeman

The Templeman Library is excited to support a range of events as part of celebrating Disability History Month.

Templeman Library Reading List: our DHM 2025 reading list has been created for those who want to feed their literary curiosity and discover new books and resources outside of their academic studies. We hope you enjoy them but if you feel something is missing then let us know and you can help add to this collection.

Many of these resources are available to browse and borrow at Templeman Library  – check out the display in the Library Café, from 20th November.

Free access to Libby e-books & audiobook collection: Further explore the richness of diverse voices with our recently purchased large e-book and audiobook collection – all free for students & staff via the Libby app! So much to discover in our Disability History Month 2025.

Come and visit a unique exhibition in the Library Cafe during Disability History Month!

This is ME! Children and Young People’s Creative Voices  is an exhibition where children and young people who are disabled or care experienced reflect on who they are, the people, objects and spaces around them and what is important through painting, drawing, poetry, dance, music and stories around the topics of  ‘home’ ‘identity’ and ‘adventure’.

Running from 14- 28 November, the exhibition is part of the Public Engagement strand of the Living Assessments project. These activities are organised by the University of Kent and the National Children’s Bureau. The reflections displayed in this exhibition are also available via an online gallery

The Living Assessments project is a partnership between the University of Kent, the National Children’s Bureau and the University of Cambridge, which explores the experiences and impact of health and social care assessments on children and families. It is funded by the Wellcome Trust.
