How would you describe your current role in one sentence?

 

I set up Héloïse Press in 2021, a boutique publishing house focused on literary fiction by women across the world. I run the press from my garden office. Our books have been longlisted and shortlisted for multiple prizes, and been covered in mainstream media.


How did you find your career opportunities, and what application or interview tips would you like to share?

 

I created my own company and am self-employed.


What advice and reflections would you like to share with current students, particularly those considering a transition from a PhD into a non-academic role?

 

My tip would be to acquire professional experience while doing the PhD, as in preparing a parallel into the job market.
