2nd Stephen Gray Lecture: Michael Berry

Prof Sir Michael Berry is giving the 2nd Stephen Gray Lecture TOMORROW, Thursday 15 February, at 3pm in the Ingram Lecture Theatre. The lecture will be followed by informal discussions over tea, coffee and biscuits in the Ingram foyer.

Sir Michael is one of the most influential living physicists. His discovery of the Berry phase in the 1980’s had a profound influence on our understanding of what quantum systems can do – an influence that continues to be felt across wide areas of current research in physics and chemistry. He has also made many seminal contributions in other areas, including chaos theory and optics.

Sir Michael is an excellent public speaker – his public lectures frequently feature wit and beautiful images. I am sure we will all enjoy this talk and if you bring non-scientist friends along they will, too.
I hope to see you tomorrow.
