Philanthropy advising is an emerging and important profession fuelled by demand from donors for support with their charitable giving. Advising Philanthropiststhe new book by Dr Beth Breeze, Director of Kent’s Centre for Philanthropy, explores what the role of the philanthropy advisor entails, the practicalities involved and the wide range of skills and knowledge needed to start and excel at working with donors.

It is illuminated by interviews with 40 philanthropy advisors from around the globe offering unique and authentic accounts of this unsung profession, and explores ‘who are these people?’, ‘what do they do?’ and ‘what impact does it have?’.

Written with philanthropy advisor Emma Beeston, the book highlights the work of philanthropy advisors within the wider sector, helps readers to better understand this developing profession, and provides guidance for philanthropy advisors for new and established philanthropy professionals.

Advising Philanthropists: Principles and Practice is published on 6 Feb 2023.
