2022 sees the Centre for Child Protection (CCP) celebrate its tenth anniversary. CCP is marking the milestone with a webinar series in the autumn term entitled ‘Critical Conversations in Child Protection’ which ends with a celebratory, on campus, public event on Wednesday 9 November.

This celebration is part of the Law, Society and Social Justice (LSSJ) Division’s ‘Social Justice: Celebrating Collaboration & Impact’ Week (7-11 Nov 2022) and aims to set the CCP’s agenda for the next decade. It will also reveal the winner of CCP’s first rendition of the “Collaboration Award 2022: Celebrating Outstanding Multidisciplinary Working.”

CCP was established in October 2012 and aims to get to the heart of child protection training by using innovative ideas and the latest technology. CCP consists of a team of experts in the field of child protection with diverse areas of research, interests and practice experiences. They use contemporary research with cutting-edge child protection simulations to deliver an online, multi-professional and international Advanced Child Protection MA, as well as delivering award-winning continuing professional development (CPD) programmes for inter-disciplinary child protection professionals.

Critical Conversations in Child Protection: A Webinar Series

The Centre for Child Protection’s (CCP) five-part webinar series is aimed at facilitating learning from the latest research, practice knowledge and theory around safeguarding children and young people.

The first webinar begins on 21 September with an informative topic on the relationship dynamics between parents and social workers. The series closes on 2 November with an exploration into how simulations create safe spaces to learn and “practise” practice. Tag us @UniKentCCP and follow the conversation at #CriticalConversations.

Please visit the CCP’s website where you can read each of the synopses and register your place on the webinars.

Collaboration Award 2022: celebrating outstanding multidisciplinary working

CCP Collaboration Award Poster

The Centre for Child Protection (CCP) is introducing an award for child protection professionals engaged in outstanding collaborative work across disciplines.

Strong multi-disciplinary collaboration is essential in child safeguarding work and duties to cooperate between agencies to keep children safe is enshrined in legislation. CCP works within a diverse multi-disciplinary population of child protection professionals and regularly hears good examples of strong multi-agency practices that should be recognised and celebrated alongside the promotion of learning from good practice to promote effective multi-disciplinary working.
