Social Worker Degree Apprenticeship launched

On the 24th 2020 February the Social Worker Degree Apprenticeship was launched at the University of Kent in Medway.  There is an initial cohort of nearly 50 learners from social work employers in Kent, Medway and London.

A trailblazer group was set up by social work employers in 2016 to pave the way for developing a new work-based route to qualifying in social work. Kent is one of the first Universities in the UK to be offering this as a Degree Apprenticeship. This is an exciting time for social work education in Kent; it gives us a chance to work more closely with employers and be guided by service users and carers in the moulding of future social workers.  This programmes adds to the ever expanding portfolio of qualifying routes to social work in Medway.
