Shame, Honour and Intra-familial Child Sexual Abuse in Britain’s South Asian Communities

Comparatively little is known about the prevalence of intra-familial child sexual abuse amongst Britain’s South Asian communities and this knowledge gap is repeatedly stated in academic research and child protection policy documents.

Vanisha Jassal, Lecturer in Child Protection, is researching reasons as to why this may be the case and exploring how cultural barriers may be particularly problematic when it comes to disclosing abuse and seeking interventions and support.  The research is being conducted through survivor and practitioner interviews so if you think you can contribute to it in any way please email Vanisha at: sacsauk@gmail.com
