This event marks the publication of a new edited collection ‘Emotional States: sites and spaces of affective governance’ (Routledge, 2017, eds, Jupp, Pykett and Smith). The book examines the allure, value and currency of emotions within political discourse, governance and the development and implementation of social policy. The launch and seminar will develop these themes, particularly within the context of contemporary politics.
