Postgraduate loans for UK students

The UK government has announced new plans to support UK students studying for a postgraduate taught or postgraduate research degree for the 2016 2017 academic year.

These loans will provide up to £10,000 a year for taught and research Master’s courses.

Master’s degrees in all disciplines and subject areas will be covered by the new postgraduate loan scheme and will be available for all full-time and part time programmes.

The new postgraduate Master’s loans are subject to eligibility criteria based on age, nationality and residency. The main requirements are:

  • You must be under 60 years of age when you begin your postgraduate course.
  • You must be studying at a university with degree awarding powers in the UK. This includes institutions in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as well as those in England.
  • You must be resident in England prior to the beginning of your course. Exceptions may apply to EU students.
