We are delighted to welcome the renowned Professor David Brotherton of the City University of New York to deliver a seminar this Thursday, 23 Oct.
Entitled ‘Towards a Critical Gang Studies’, Professor Brotherton will isolate six essential themes to reconsider if we are to approach the gang from a critical and increasingly global perspective: Social Citizenship and Transnationality; Intersectionality, Gang Culture, The Politics of Space, Violence and the Political Economy, and Peacemaking. These themes have all emerged from observations and data from the field or via collaborations with an international array of interdisciplinary gang researchers drawn during the last two decades.
