Free Day Trip to the EU Commission and Parliament

Book now to join us on a free day trip via coach to the EU Commission and Parliament for up to 35 SSPSSR stage 2, 3 & PG students (recent graduates also welcome)  on Wednesday the 24th of September 2014:

This field-trip will raise awareness of employability opportunities to students wishing to work in the EU. Students will visit the EU Commission as well as the EU Parliament where they will learn more about the roles of both institutions.  If time allows they will also have a brief talk with a local MEP.

Students who wish to be selected must write a short paragraph of no more than 300 words to support their motivations for coming along on this trip and email it to R.Gwynne@kent.ac.uk by the 29th of August 2014.  Participants will then be selected according to satisfactory class attendance, marks and feedback and successful candidates will be notified by Friday the 5th of September 2014.

Participating students will also be asked to provide a short testimonial after the trip, which will be used for promotional purposes.

Students must have a valid passport, and visa if required.

The following learning objectives will also be fulfilled by students coming along on the trip:

To provide graduates with knowledge based skills and experience, relevant to employment in the public service sector.

  1. To provide learning opportunities that are enjoyable and educational, for students from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  2. To help students link theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
  3. To give students the opportunities to develop and practice a range of transferable or key skills, that will be of use in future work and employment.
  4. To provide high quality employability events and new ways of engaging students with employability initiatives through interaction with experienced staff in stimulating professional environments.
