A Chinese edition of Chris Shilling’s monograph Changing Bodies: Habit, Crisis and Creativity will appear at the end of this year.

The latest Sociological Review Monograph collection of original articles has just been published. Series editor Chris Shilling has written a general introduction to this latest collection. Entitled Measure and Value, and edited by Lisa Adkins and Celia Lury, it provides a novel view of methods in sociology and social research and is an antidote to text book style offerings that are increasingly popular as a result of the reified conceptions of ‘doing’ research sponsored by grant bodies. This follows the previous Monograph in the series which was entitled Norbert Elias and Figurational Research: Processual Thinking in Sociology, and edited by Norman Gabriel and Stephen J Mennell.

First published in 1991 in the international refereed journal Sociology, Chris Shilling’s paper ‘Education and the production of physical capital’ has just been reprinted in in Kirk, D. (2012, Ed.) Physical Education: Major Themes in Education, Volume 1 The Nature and Purposes of Physical Education.
