These include:
Reduced Offer
As soon as applicants select Kent as their Firm Choice for a mathematical sciences degree, we send them a Reduced Offer. A Reduced Offer lowers the grade requirements for two subjects in our Standard Offer, whilst maintaining the A in Mathematics requirement. The Reduced Offer is applicable to all undergraduate degrees, excluding the Foundation Years. Click here for more information about our Reduced Offers.
A Level Mathematics Revision Support
To help our Firm Choice applicants achieve their very best in A Level Mathematics (or equivalent), we give them access to our online Revision Portal which is full of revision sheets, practice questions, past papers, videos and other resources. We also send all of our Firm Choice applicants a Revision Pack in the post, along with other useful resources to help them study and revise.
Online Community
Building a sense of community is an important aspect of life in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science (SMSAS). We want all of our Firm Choice applicants to feel like they are part of the School before they arrive and we invite them to join our online community of other SMSAS applicants, giving them the opportunity to get to know other prospective students before arriving at Kent.
Activities, Competitions and Advice – Taster of student life at Kent
University is about more than just studying and we want to give all of our Firm Choice applicants a taste of the student experience at Kent. Throughout the year, Firm Choice applicants will receive giveaways, updates and opportunities to get involved in the SMSAS experience. We like to encourage our applicants to make the most of their time before they come to university and to take time to enjoy themselves, reflect on their achievements and feel part of the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science.
Preparing for University – Getting #ReadyForKent
Getting ready for university can be a daunting experience and we want to make the process as stress-free as possible by providing applicants with support and guidance in what to expect at university, how to prepare, what to bring with them, where the local supermarkets are, what’s happening during Welcome Week (freshers), and all of the other bits of information we know applicants (and their families!) find useful to know before they arrive.
Dedicated Support
Our friendly Admissions Team is available all through the year to answer any questions applicants may have, to arrange informal visits to the Canterbury campus, and to support applicants throughout the admissions process. Whether it’s arranging a weekend visit, a skype call with some current students, or answering your questions about our admissions processes, we’re happy to help applicants.
