By There can be times when it is handy to force your PC to update Windows, rather than to wait for the next system-wide automatic update. This is advisable if your PC has been switched off for some time because it will force an update to Forefront antivirus protection.
Begin by accessing the Windows shell/console
- Click the Windows “orb”
- Type
cmd
in the search box
- Click cmd.exe in the results – as shown (right)
In the console type
wuauclt /detectnow
… then restart your PC and the updates will download and install when the computer boots up.
