Arts and Humanities Heroes 2021

In a year quite unlike any other, we wanted to acknowledge how fantastically resilient our students have all been throughout an extremely difficult time.

To recognise this strength our students have all shown, our Student Experience team asked Arts and Humanities students to nominate their ‘hero’.  They were thrilled to receive so many positive and inspiring nominations – we hope these bring you a little piece of joy and a reminder that hope can always be found, even in the toughest times.

Alexandra Davis

MA Ancient History

Nominated by Benjamin Dawkins

“I nominate Alex as an Arts and Humanities Hero for her exceptional level of extracurricular activity undertaken whilst studying her Masters! Alex is an outreach ambassador, a mentor, a student rep, President of the Mature Student Society, and is heavily involved with extra work and events with the Department of Classical and Archaeological Studies. And those are just the roles I know about! What’s more, Alex does all of this with a smile, passion, and a friendly and outgoing nature, and is always happy and prepared to chat and help fellow students whenever possible.”

Kelsey Bennett

BA Classical & Archaeological Studies

Nominated by Alexandra Davis

“Kelsey has helped me so much with tech this year (especially for Classics Day), and I am most grateful for his assistance, and for how cheerful he always is!”

Nominated by Lucy Cooper

“Kelsey and I are both on the KCAS (Kent Classical and Archaeological Studies) society committee, and I could not have got through this year without him. As President, it’s been extremely difficult trying to run a society during the pandemic, but Kelsey has been there every step of the way and he has never let me down. He is extremely reliable, always showing up to events and keeping on top of everything, and always happy to help. Not only that, but he always manages to bring a smile to my face! He’s a wonderful person and I am so thankful that he decided to be a part of the KCAS committee this year – he has really and truly made my final year so much better!”
