Join the Modern Languages and Linguistics online study lounge – a new student-driven virtual study environment

Post by Sami Bakaitis, Classical & Archaeological Studies and Italian student

If you find it hard studying alone and need tips to stay productive, then this is the place for you. During this difficult period we are offering a relaxed online study experience, where you can share tips to stay productive and get on with some work!

What is an online study lounge?

A relaxed online space where you can study with other classmates! You can have your camera off and even turn off your mic, all you need to do is get on with your work. You can also use this place to share tips on staying productive!

Who is it for?

Currently open to all students who study Modern Languages and Linguistics (Joint Honours included). This lounge is for anyone who is struggling to focus while they study. Like myself, many students prefer an environment such as a café or a library, but due to restrictions we are confined to an unproductive environment: our bedrooms. This online study room is to make sure you get some work done.

What happens?

I will start the meeting at 4pm and will start a short discussion.

If you feel comfortable you can introduce yourself and explain to others what you need to achieve by the end of the session. This could be going through a grammar topic or writing an introduction for an essay. After a few minutes, we all mute our mics and get studying!

Over time, we can invite staff members to this study lounge and they could provide useful information such as writing an essay with limited library access.

How can I join?

You can join us every Wednesday from 4-6pm with the Zoom meeting ID and password provided below:
