Kent Undergraduate English Language and Linguistics Conference 2021

The Kent Undergraduate English Language and Linguistics Conference will be taking place on Wednesday 24th March from 11.00 – 18.30. In a day of talks and posters, undergraduate students of English Language and Linguistics at the University of Kent present their dissertation research.

The invited speaker is Dr Elisabeth Carter, University of Roehampton, with her talk titled, ‘Forensic linguistics in action: examining interaction at the intersection of language and the law’.

The schedule for the day includes poster sessions and presentations on topics including:

  • The multilingual narrator of war and peace
  • Women in Media
  • Politicians in a pickle: how the public is deceived
  • Going local? Perceptions of dialect variation in rural Berkshire
  • Long Distance Control: Can it provide evidence for intact primary pragmatics in autistic adults?
