University of Kent’s Language Centre joins GLO programme with Tamagawa University in Japan

University of Kent’s Language Centre has joined the Global Learning Online (GLO) programme with Tamagawa University in Japan, for University of Kent students studying Japanese. The GLO programme is a co-curricular virtual exchange initiative which has been devised to introduce students at Kent to cross-cultural academic learning experiences online to compliment their existing studies.

University of Kent students studying Japanese have recently started GLO with Tamagawa University in Japan, led by Japanese Tutor, Mano Suzuki.* The first online meeting was held on 11 November (pictured); this was an introductory session where the six University of Kent students met eight Tamagawa University students. They discussed their interests and separated into three groups based on their mutual cultural interests: favourite British and Japanese food, British and Japanese modern pop music and Religious buildings such as churches, Buddhism temples and Shinto shrines. They will be working in their groups until January and will given an online presentation on their topics on 11 January 2021.

*This programme is only open to students on LA553 Japanese Pre-Intermediate and LA559 Japanese Intermediate modules.
