Welcome Week 2020

Your guide to events taking place in Welcome Week 2020

Welcome week is fast approaching and we are looking forward to introducing new students to their academic subject(s), helping them familiarise themselves with the Library and other facilities, and introducing them to their academic adviser.

Welcome Week: Before the start of term, the University runs a series of events called Welcome Week, starting on Monday 21 September. There’s a full timetable of events designed to help students find their feet, make friends and get to know the University.

New students will find out more at our Induction Meeting at 10.00 on Monday 21 September 2020 on Zoom.

The events taking place during Welcome Week may be face to face (socially distanced, in large rooms, equipped with hand sanitiser), or they may be online. Students will receive an email from their Department, containing the links they need to access each of the academic events taking place.

Other useful information for new students includes:

  • Hello Kent: The University has a useful guide for all new students, which explains the things they need to do before you arrive. There is information on how to activate student IT accounts, making module choices (for those who have not already done so) and an explanation of the student support and wellbeing services. Find out more at www.kent.ac.uk/hello
  • Library and IT Induction: A Library and IT induction module has been set up to introduce students to the Library and all its services, and covers everything they will need to know to get started. Students can also attend a 20-minute webchat during welcome week.
  • The the new MOSAIC app brings together a collection of short videos for new, returning and final year students. Videos include advice from both staff and students about support and opportunities available at the University of Kent.

We are looking forward to welcoming all our new students to Kent and hope they have an enjoyable and productive time with us! If you have any questions in the meantime, please email secl@kent.ac.uk.
