Jeremy Carrette on the future of Erasmus+ on BBC1

Professor Jeremy Carrette

Jeremy Carrette, Professor of Philosophy, Religion and Culture and Dean for Europe, appeared on BBC1’s Sunday Politics South East last week, to discuss the future of Erasmus+ scheme following Brexit.

He was interviewed at Kent’s Paris School of Arts and Culture to talk about the future of the Erasmus+ exchange programme, which enables students to study at universities throughout the EU.

‘Kent is unique in that it exists at the gateway to Europe,’ explains Jeremy in the interview. ‘We are, if you like, a frontier county, and that means that our economy, our education, our vitality, our livelihood is all built on that inter-relation.’

‘I think the most vital point for universities is that we ensure the Erasmus programme – that will make life simpler, that will enrich business and education.’

The programme is currently on the BBC’s iPlayer, with the feature beginning at 41’20” into the programme, and will be available until 16 April here: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b09vjp0d/sunday-politics-south-east-18032018.
