Jeremy Scott on the craft of writing

Dr Jeremy Scott

Dr Jeremy Scott, Senior Lecturer in English Language and Literature in the Department of English Language & Linguistics, will be co-presenting a seminar on ‘The Craft of Creative Writing’ with award-winning Trinidadian-born writer Monique Roffey, on Tuesday 17 October 2017.

The seminar is part of a collaborative series between the Institute of English Studies and the Open University, entitled ‘Contemporary Cultures of Writing’. The series will be held at Senate House in London, and is open to all.

For Jeremy’s seminar, he will ask how creative writers draw on their knowledge of the nature and properties of language in their composition, and can insights from the field of Linguistics or Language Studies help in the creative process? The seminar will also include a reading of creative work.

The seminar will start at 5.30pm and is free to attend.
