Dr David Hornsby, Senior Lecturer in French and the Head of English Language & Linguistics, has written an article for the latest issue of Education Today magazine, dated July/August 2017.
Education Today is a business magazine for the education industry, and has been running over 25 years.
David’s opinion piece is entitled ‘Foreign Languages Benefit Us All’, and argues that the needs for language learning is broader than instrumentalist arguments such as business and economic relations.
‘What we will need,’ David states, ‘are people who are flexible, open, tolerant, co-operative, innovative and able to find creative solutions to problems. I know of no better training for all these qualities than learning a modern foreign language.’
