Dr Natalia Sobrevilla-Perea, Reader in Hispanic Studies in the Department of Modern Languages, was interviewed for The Telegraph newspaper this week about the political events in Venezuala.

On Sunday, over 200,000 protesters marched in the capital Caracas, to mark 50 days of protesting against President Nicolas Maduro, as the country faces shortages of food and medicines.

‘Venezuela is at the brink of breaking into civil war,’ explains Natalia in the article, drawing on her expertise of Latin America. ‘There have been protests going on for months, but they have been simmering and now we are reaching breaking point.’
