Summer school on prosody and intonation

Aix-Marseille Université

An international summer school organised by Professor Amalia Arvaniti and Dr Tamara Rathcke from the Department of English Language & Linguistics, in collaboration with French colleagues, will be held next week, 6-9 September 2016.

The Aix Summer School on Prosody (Aixpros) is an international summer school on prosody and intonation, and will take place in Aix-en-Provence, France. It is organised by the Laboratoire Parole et Language at the Université Aix-Marseille with the University of Kent. The event is supported by the French Ministry for Education, and funded primarily by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (National Research Agency), the International Speech Communication Association and the University of Kent, and it aims to promote interdisciplinary exchanges between postgraduate students and researchers from a variety of areas within linguistics (such as phonetics, phonology, psycholinguists, second language acquisition, fieldwork). Among the themes that will be addressed are pathological aspects, such as prosody in schizophrenia and Parkinson’s, and the study of prosody of under-documented languages. Neuroscience and cognitive science will also be represented.
