The results of the National Student Survey 2016 (NSS) have now been released, revealing good news for the School of European Culture and Languages (SECL).
The NSS is an independent UK-wide survey of all higher education institutions, providing an opportunity for final-year students to independently rate their experience at university.
The survey ran from January until April this year, targeting students towards the end of their degree, and the results were published yesterday, 10 August 2016.
SECL saw several successes in the survey. Both Comparative Literature and Archaeology subject areas scored top 10 results for overall satisfaction: Comparative Literature scored 3rd in the UK and Archaeology scored 7th.
Overall, all SECL’s subject areas scored extremely high for its teaching. The figures for the other subjects for overall satisfaction were as follows:
- Classical & Archaeological Studies – Archaeology scored 95%
- Comparative Literature scored 91%
- Modern Languages – French scored 90%, German 83%, and Hispanic Studies (Iberian Studies) scored 85%
- English Language & Linguistics scored 79%
- Philosophy scored 87%
- Religious Studies scored 89%.
As a smaller subject area, Italian is not included in the NSS results.
Congratulations to all our staff for providing excellent teaching and support to achieve this result, and we would like to thank all of our students who participated in the survey.
