Call for papers for Classical Association conference

The Department of Classical & Archaeological Studies at the University of Kent and the Department of Classical Studies at the Open University are jointly hosting the Classical Association 2017 conference, which will be held at the University of Kent, Canterbury from 26-29 April 2017.

Proposals for papers (twenty minutes long followed by discussion) are welcome from graduate students, school teachers, academic staff and others engaged with the ancient world, on the themes suggested below or on any other aspect of the classical world.

Suggested conference themes are:

  • Livy’s Bimillennium
  • Classics in the Contemporary World
  • Classical Archaeology as Heritage
  • Experiencing the Body
  • Everyday Life
  • Acquiring and Structuring Knowledge
  • Late Antiquity and Byzantium.

Papers are encouraged from a broad range of perspectives, particularly proposals for coordinated panels comprising either three or four papers on any classical topic.

Abstracts should be no longer than 200 words and should be submitted as Word files (no pdfs) and sent to ca-2017@kent.ac.uk.

The closing date for proposals or abstracts is 31 August 2016.
