SECL alumni presentation on publishing

As part of the Humanities for Hire employability events series, the School of European Culture and Languages is hosting a ‘Working in Publishing’ panel on Thursday 10 March 2016 from 17.00-18.00 in the Gulbenkian Cinema. A panel of experts from the world of publishing including alumni and employers will talk about their experiences, how they got into publishing, what their job entails and the skills required.

Speakers include:

  • Amanda Thomas, Italian alumna 1983, who has worked in the media and now writes non-fiction history books for Pen and Sword Books
  • Emily Cook, English Language & Linguistics alumna 2015, Editorial Assistant for Doctor Who magazine and Doctor Who: The Complete History magazine published by Panini
  • Craig Fowlie, Global Editorial Director of Social Science and Politics Titles at Routledge (Taylor and Francis)
  • Seonaid Macleod, Campaigns Manager at the Publishing Association.

The talks will be followed by a Q&A session and refreshments will be available in the Gulbenkian Café from 18.00-19.00.
