Reshmi receiveing Hind Rattan award

Dr Reshmi Dutta Flanders, an Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of English Language & Linguistics, has been awarded the ‘Hind Rattan’, one of the highest Indian national awards granted annually in New Delhi to non-resident people of Indian origin.

The Hindi phrase ‘Hind Rattan’ is translated in English as the ‘Jewel of India’. It is presented annually to 25-30 non-resident Indians (NRIs) worldwide by the NRI Welfare Society of India, an organisation under the umbrella of the Indian Government.

Reshmi received the award at a ceremony in New Delhi attended by senior members of the Government of India and of the Supreme Court of India. The award cited her ‘outstanding services and contributions for keeping the flag of India high.’
