Dr Elizabeth Blanning, who recently graduated with a PhD in Classical & Archaeological Studies, has won the Hasted Prize for her thesis entitled ‘Landscape, Settlement and Materiality: Aspects of Rural Life in Kent during the Roman Period‘.

The Hasted Prize is awarded every two years by the Kent Archaeological Society for the best research degree relating to the history, heritage or archaeology of Kent. This is the 5th time the prize has been awarded; previous winners have included PhD theses from the universities of Cambridge, Leicester and UCL, as well as from the School of History at Kent. This is the first time it has gone to a PhD with an archaeological emphasis.

In an addition to the main prize, the Kent Archaeological Society will also offer some financial assistance towards publication of the thesis.

Our congratulations to Elizabeth on her well-deserved prize.
