Next year, the University of Kent will be holding the 7th conference on Tone and Intonation in Europe (TIE2016), 1-3 September 2016, organised by the Department of English Language & Linguistics. TIE2016 continues the tradition of previous TIE conferences welcoming contributions on phonetic, phonological, psycholinguistic, neurolinguistic and typological aspects of tone and intonation in any language. Additionally, the conference focuses on two specific themes:

  • Tone and intonation in L2 – to focus on the production and perception of L2 prosody, particularly its tonal aspects.
  • The interaction of tone and intonation with other components of prosody – on the interaction of tonal components of prosody with phrasing, timing and rhythm.

Abstracts are welcome on any of the topics relevant to TIE. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 20 February 2016. Notification of acceptance will be sent out 17 April 2016. Abstracts can be submitted here, using EasyAbstracts.
