Dr Paul March-Russell, from the Department of Comparative Literature, has co-organised along with the Centre for American Studies, an evening with publisher and author Bill Campbell, on Monday 9 November at 5pm.

Bill Campbell is the author of four novels, including Sunshine Patriots (Hats Off Press, 2004), Koontown Killing Kaper (Wheatmark, 2012), and My Booty Novel (Rosarium, 2013).

In 2013, he founded the imprint, Rosarium Publishing. Beginning with the crowdfunded anthology, Mothership, Rosarium has been active in promoting new writing from Africa, Asia and Anglo-American authors of colour.

The talk will explore the frustrations he has encountered when dealing with mainstream publishing, and how many have flocked toward Afrofuturism, science fiction, fantasy, and comics to discuss the issues most important to us as a way to combat the deleterious effects of the white mediated gaze.
