Dr Jessica Frazier from the Department of Religious Studies has acted as the consultant on a BBC4 programme entitled Genius of the Ancient World.

The series sees historian and presenter Bettany Hughes travel to India, Greece and China on the trail of three giants of ancient philosophy. In the first episode, she will investigate the revolutionary ideas of the Buddha, and the way in which he transformed the Hindu culture that came before him to create a new religion – without God.

Jessica’s research interests are in Hinduism and Buddhism, and she convenes modules such as Hindu Religious Thought at Kent.

The episode will be transmitted on Wednesday 5 August at 9.00pm on BBC4, and will be available on the BBC’s iPlayer here: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b064jf28
