CGI video on Cirencester Cockerel

Cirencester Cockerel

Lloyd Bosworth, Archaeology Technician in the Department of Classical & Archaeological Studies, has teamed up with Dan Simpson, Poet in Residence at Canterbury Roman Museum, to produce a video on the Cirencester Cockerel.

Dan Simpson, a Kent alumnus, was commissioned by the Corinium Museum in Cirencester to write a poem about the Cirencester Cockerel. Lloyd scanned the cockerel using the University’s 3d scanner and set the poem over the animation to produce the video.

The bronze and enamelled Roman cockerel, dating from the 2nd Century, was found in a child’s grave during an archaeological dig in Cirencester in 2011 and is on permanent display at the Corinium Museum.

The video is available below or on the Canterbury Roman Museum Residency blog at canterburyromanresident.wordpress.com/2015/07/22/corinium-cockerel-3d-modelled-poem/
