Following on from the SECL’s success in this year’s University Research Prizes, the School is pleased to announce that our staff have done extremely well in the University’s Teaching Prizes competition.

The first prize was awarded to Professor Ray Laurence from the Department of Classical & Archaeological Studies, for his innovative curriculum development at the University’s Rome centre, involving the development of local and international partnerships, use of new media, and site-specific forms of assessment.

The second prize was shared between two prize winners, including Dr Axel Stähler, from the Department of Comparative Literature, in recognition of his innovations in assessment, particularly in relation to the production of a Holocaust Memorial Week. Dr Vybarr Cregan-Reid, from the School of English, shared this prize for his fresh approach to student learning.

Our congratulations to Ray and Axel for their well-deserved prizes.
