Professor Ray Laurence, Professor of Roman History and Archaeology in the Department of Classical & Archaeological Studies, was interviewed on French television for the documentary Les Vestiges de Pompéi [The Remains of Pompeii], broadcast on France 5 yesterday, Tuesday 28 April.
Using careful reconstruction, the documentary uncovered the daily life of the inhabitants of Pompeii just before the eruption of Vesuvius in 79AD.
France 5 is a public television network in France, principally focussing on educational programmes.
The documentary lasts approximately 50 minutes, and will be repeated in the early hours of 14 May.
