Gateways to German and Austrian WWI experiences

Gateways to the First World War

The Department of German is co-organising a day of talks and workshops at Canterbury Cathedral Lodge exploring German and Austrian experiences of the First World War.

Gateways to German and Austrian Experiences’ is part of the AHRC funded ‘Gateways to the First World War’ initiative, which aims to encourage public engagement with the Great War centenary.

Dr Heide Kunzelmann will lead a team of students from the Department of German to run a translation panel enabling people to bring along First World War documents for analysis. The day also features talks by historians from Kent and other universities, and offers an opportunity for members of the public to talk with experts in the field and get advice on locating records and archives.

The event will take place on 20 March 2015. Full details of the event, including booking information can be found on the Gateways website : www.gatewaysfww.org.uk/events/gateways-german-austrian-experiences
