Screening and Q&A with Peruvian film director

Poster for Trip to Timbuktu (2013)

Peruvian filmmaker Rossana Diaz Costa will present her award-winning film Trip to Timbuktu (2013) on campus next week, on Thursday 16 October 2014.

Trip to Timbuktu follows two teenagers, who live in Peru. Their love for each other starts in childhood and reveals the changes that took place in this country during the 1980s. For them, the only way to survive in the middle of violence and lack of opportunities is through their love, a sort of refuge that has as its homeland an imaginary country called Timbuktu. Nevertheless, the reality will stand in their way and collapse their utopia.

The film will be screened in the Lupino cinema in the Grimond Building, starting at 6pm, and it will be followed by a question and answer session with Rossana.

This event is kindly supported by the Department of Hispanic Studies and the Centre for American Studies.
