Peter Read in Paris and Texas

Professor Peter Read from the Department of French has been appointed to the advisory committee of a forthcoming exhibition entitled ‘Guillaume Apollinaire et la naissance de l’art moderne’, which will take place at the Orangerie in the Tuileries Gardens in Paris in the spring of 2016.

Peter has also been awarded a  one-month Research Fellowship by the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at the University of Texas, to study their collection of manuscripts by Apollinaire and Jean Cocteau, in the 2014/15 academic year.

The Harry Ransom Center (HRC) is both a museum and research library, its collections include 42 million manuscripts and nearly one million rare books. Peter is following in the footsteps of the School of European Culture and Languages’s Dr Axel Staehler, who previously has been awarded two HRC Fellowships.
