Peter Mayr to teach Kent Extra course

Peter Mayr, from the Department of German, is to teach a Kent Extra course entitled Media and the Public Sphere in Europe.

The course will examine the media systems of contemporary Europe, including both public and private structures and spanning print, broadcasting and digital media. In particular, it will trace the media’s contribution to the creation and development of the public sphere in Europe, and the relationship between the media and its producers.

Kent Extra is a new initiative for 2014, and allows students registered on existing Kent programmes additional learning opportunities outside of their normal modules and specific degree disciplines. While Kent Extra courses are non-credit bearing, students who complete them will be eligible to collect ‘Kent Extra Miles’, which can appear on their Higher Education Achievement Record, and can be converted into Employability Points.

Media and the Public Sphere in Europe will begin on 16 March 2014. For more information on the course, including how to sign up, please visit the webpage here: www.kent.ac.uk/extra/courseshumanities.html
